Does anyone have any tricks to bypass the hot water heater on a 02 380 dancer to winterize the water system. I have the pex connection with 3 lines.(1 hot 1 cold and 1 cold to the mixing valve) I tried a 3 way splitter although you can not bend the pex pipe or it will leak. Thanks

I've got a nice cheap trick, that half of you don't agree with, but this how I handle it with No issues. I gave up with the water bypass years ago for this method.
Any RV supply place has a garden hose attachment with an air valve that screws into your shore water connection.
Hook up some air and open all your faucets hot and cold and the valve at the bottom of your toilet, take your time and repeat several times until nothing comes out, hot or cold. Then drain your hot water heater, what little is left.

No antifreeze....Your done.... Bring on the Haters

That's how I do it also, never had an issue. I do run pink thru my water pumps and icemaker though.

After several seasons of fooling aroud for the best solution I bought the "best" version from Camco. Easy install and it has a valve so you can switch it easily without to detach and reattach hoses every fall.

Thanks for the replies, Never even thought about the garden hose. I will need to get a splitter for the 3rd line but that should work.

same here, blow out to get all water out than a only few gallons of pink to get ice maker and any residual water diluted

Running Pink through the ice maker ???? what does an ice maker do it makes ice. disconnect water line from ice maker, let it run till it doesn't make ice any more, defrost and done as per owners manual of my ice maker.

My icemaker is in my freezer so I'm not pulling the Subzero for that...

I see your point with the subzero, my ice maker is a stand alone witch makes it a lot easier. I also by pass the hot water tank then blow out all the fresh water lines with air and leave all the faucets open but I do add pink to the fresh water pump.

Camco system in place. Don't forget to drain the tank. I forgot last fall. Musta made a helluva sound when it burst last winter. You could also put a shop-vac on the drain if you want to get a few extra ounces out.

Ron,

I use the same bypass but leave the drain open...

I bypass the water heater and drain all the water lines and fresh tank. Then put some pink though the tank and pressurize the system leaving the ice maker on. After about 15 min there are pink slushy cubes and I know the lines and valves in the ice maker are protected. Maybe overkill but it's $5 of pink and i know I won't have a cracked valve or line. It also saves removing and replacing fittings which is a pain and might lead to leaks.

But everyone has their own way and their own $ and skill set. We all do what lets us not worry over the long cold winter.
