Hi, i am replacing my bunks on the trailer and would like to do most myself....what kind of wood is recommended....just going to home depot...i was told "not" to use pressure treated....the trailer get backed into water maybe 3 times a year (freshwater) thanks everyone....

Uh oh, I’ve re-bunked two trailers now and used pressure treated lumber both times. So far, so good, but our trailer is rarely in the water, especially with the 240.

Out of curiosity, why is pressure treated lumber a no-no? Anyone?

Maybe redwood is the way to go?

Sorry irish, I’m not trying to hijack here…

no worries man Arizona....good question...i was told maybe abit heavy, not worth the extra money...and may stain the boat when sitting on the trailer....not real sure...sounds kinda funny as i was typing it out...lol

Use PT wood. Cover it with either carpeting or bunk slicks/guides. I prefer slicks/guides.

We use ruff cut hemlock out here. Once it dries out you can hardly drive a nail in it. :smt001
