Bringing boat home!

well this has been fun.....NEXT

also....from previous experience on other forums if there's no pics it didn't happen......just words on a page :smt024

Doesn't he understand, we need these threads during the cold weather. I would think he should be passing us today, but we will never know.

Probably got distracted from whatever that is on the front of his boat as shown on his avatar.

Is anyone able to contact him outside of CSR....maybe he needs some assistance. Like my Ma used to say 'at least you could have called and then I'd know you're OK'

What's the weather been like in that stretch? Crappy weather will really change the tone of the trip.

Possibly doesn't have internet connection....?

Have a fun / safe run, Ritchie, and report in.

Edit:

Woody, looks like he checked in here last night. So, I guess he's alright.

Hi, yes checked in tried to post, but connection wouldn't let me load. Very bad internet so far! Sorry for lack of updates. So ... If I never see Chesapeake Bay again I'll be ok. 8 hours of banging up and down. Made it through to Norfolk on first day. Second, day made it to just above Beaufort. A lot of big water and one of the big sounds had beam seas at me for about an hour. Third day, we had awesome easy ride from Beaufort and now anchored at Georgetown, SC. Really wanted to find a good marina but ran out of daylight and just had to drop the hook. We are making great time! Followed a sport fish from ft pierce all morning today at like 35mph through the shallow stuff. Really appreciate his leading me through. For the boat, wow! Handles like a fishing boat. It's very fast, and handled everything I've thrown at it beautifully. Even the be seas that were spraying all the way over the arch. Almost starting tacking, but wanted to make the straight line shortest route, and boat took it very well.

I can't add pix from my phone, but will add when I get home. Tomorrow will make it to either Hilton head or savannah. Ending in Brunswick on Monday. Trip is going to take 4 1/2 days. Pretty quick! And the boat is awesome! Love it!

I did warn you... come back in the summer, you will think a lot better of the Bay.

Offshore tomorrow or ICW? FYI, tomorrow night I will be on the hook next to Buzzard island by Hilton Head

Tomorrow we are ready for a full service marina to take a long hot shower and have a good meal. Recommendations in either Hilton head or savannah?

On Hilton Head, Harbor Town has the best restaurants and is furthest south. Shelter Cove is in the middle of the island and a little tricky to get to. I think Alex F stayed there last year. Skull Creek is at the north end of the island but is lacking in walking distance eating. The Boathouse is a great restaurant just past Skull Creek Marina, but you'd have to dock your boat at their pier to get there.

Glad you are doing well. Sorry about the weather, but I did warn you..... Seems the boat is doing well. Hopefully you will have some nice weather and see how enjoyable it can be.

Regarding Hilton Head or SAV, I agree Harbor Town is nice. Prob. something you want to see if you haven't. In SAV, Thunderbolt Marina is typically the "goto" but the "noseeums" are crazy there. Personally, I'd go to HH and push out to the ocean until I hit Florida (At least)...

Good Luck & Stay Safe

Edit -

Just checked the weather for you and it appears it could be rough outside for the next few days....

Hit Harbor Town. It's a little pricey, but worth it with several places to eat and a very nice marina. Glad you are having a nice and safe trip without any issues.

I'll be at Skull Creek Marina all afternoon and evening. If he goes the ICW he will go right by me. I'll try to look out for him and snap some pics.

WOW - you are hauling / pushing some serious water

Believe it or not, I made it all the way to St. Simons from Georgetown today. After thunderbolt, decided to make some serious time and jumped off shore. Sun went down on me, and it was pitch black. I had no choice but to venture on in the complete darkness. I knew St. Simon sound, and knew I could make it in even in the pitch dark, so I had to push it all the way. Not what I had originally planned, but glad I made it back. Four days! Got to be some kind of record
