Bring a yacht North.

This was looking over the bow much later on....looks like their having a blast playing around the bulbous bow bulb under water.

Going slow and not having the option to speed up makes collision avoidance much different.
It a lot more planning and talking to the other captains.
I now believe AIS should be mandatory for ALL boats big and small. This boat has it..and it's very cool.

The wind was in a great direction to use the Sails!

We left them up for about a day and got a nice 1.5 extra knot out of them.
I would hate to have to rely on them if the main failed.....

I settled in for a 4 hour watch.

The seas were angry due to the 26 steady and 32kt gust.....so far.

At this point we were 60 miles off shore and in for a slogging...
I tried to take some pics but, they all looked wimpy.
They were honest 8+footers rocking us.
It wasn't any problem for the little ship but, we didn't like it.
To add insult.....I was tracking an AIS target doing 28kts in this mess coming up from behind us! It was a big sport fisher well inside....just cranking through it.

So, that's the drive North so far.
Were sitting at a dock in Beaufort NC until day break when we'll decide if we go back outside or run a bit inside....

My impression of this little ship is its able to take most anything the sea could through at it. But, the people inside of it will surrender much sooner.
I also see why semi-displacement trawlers are all the rage. 8-11 knots is painfully slow.
Dont sell you SeaRay's!!!

Ok, this is a great crew!!! Shoved off with me still asleep......Nice.
So, I've been running the kitchen whenever possible.

Houston we have a problem......the coffee maker is inop!
EASY VICTOR, EASY VICTOR, EASY VICTOR ..... All doors!!!p

Wait...there's a back-up .... Thank God.....this boat has a freakin back system for any contingency.

Mark,

Not many on the Forum know what "Easy Victor" said over the PA three times means...but now I think I know where you go for Recurrent Training!

If I get a job again, I might need to remember this stuff....

For anyone still guessing.
"Easy Victor" is to code to start an evacuation on a plane.

Today will be pretty boring so, won't be much updating unless I see some cool boats.
Smooth water so......It brownie time. (Don't tell my wife I'm making box brownies!)
