Bring a Trailer (BAT) Thread

Well I submitted my car to them, they came back and suggested no reserve, which I found interesting, not sure how I feel about that. They claim it attracts more buyers and higher bids.

It also guarantees them a sale and commission.

I know folks who push back with them on the reserve values and have had them bump it up.

If I had a highly desirable car, like a Ferrari 430 6-speed, I can see doing it because there's a line of people wanting that car. I did it on my Honda CB750 because it was lower value and lower risk but I I wouldn't do it on my Mach 1.

Remind me which car you were going to list.

Yeah I was thinking the same, that they get a sale regardless and get their commission so I'm not too sure about that.

I helped my dad list a 360 Modena 6-speed, and BAT suggested a low reserve. He fought them on it, and ultimately got them to agree to his reserve.

My advice FWIW: only agree to a reserve at or above the minimum you'd take for the car. Otherwise you could take a haircut on the sale price if the right bidders aren't around.

There is a classic car outfit just about a mile from my house here in Florida. They have a large building and it's kind of a showroom/museum. It's free to walk through and when we have visitors staying with us, they always like to go there. I always see covered car carriers in their lot picking up and dropping off. Once a month from September to May, they have a car show put on by the local car club, in their lot. They buy cars but I think they also consign cars offsite. It may be worth talking to them before getting obligated to the big guys for long periods. This is a link to their website...

Thanks. We'll definitely stop by there next time were in that area.

We have a Street Side Classics in our neighborhood. There also in a few other cities. Pricing seems high but they do move cars.
