Good evening. Was down at the boat today checking things out, I turned on the FM radio and was listening to the local radio station. The 2 radar arch speakers and the two speakers on the bridge started cutting out, and finally just quit altogether. First I thought it might be the station but the speakers in the salon and forward birth were working fine. I do have a speaker mute toggle switch on the bridge that cuts off the bridge and arch speakers. Was thinking the switch went bad. There are many toggle switches on that panel from lights to blowers to bilge pump, engine start, crossover, etc. It looks like I would have to remove the panel to get at the switch. MY question is does anyone know how to remove that panel? 1994 350 express bridge. Also could it possibly be the amplifier? Does anyone know where the amp might be tucked away, I can't find it anywhere. Appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks.

Dont know how to remove the panel, but my gut says those 4 speakers are powered by a single amp. If so, I suspect low voltage to the amp. So I would confirm the power source for the speakers and go from there.

The amp could be the source of the problem or there could be a bad RCA connection/cable. It's common for the cables to go bad after awhile.

Ok, the radio/cd player I have is the Clarion M109. So if I have 8 speakers; 4 inside and 4 outside wouldn't I need an Amplifier to power at least half of them?? Looks like the inside speakers are connected directly to the clarion and the outside speakers are going to an amplifier some where.. Just want to insure that before I start tearing things apart looking for an audio amp, that there is in fact one somewhere. Thanks

Some of the owner's manuals have a map of the stereo systems - I'm not sure about yours - but might be worthwhile to take a look. It doesn't necessarily tell you exactly where things are physically located, but it helps.

If you end up needing more help with that panel, post a pic.

I’m not familiar with your model, but on my ‘05 320 DA there are amps (lots of them) located under the lounge seat in the galley. Maybe look there? Also on my boat all the cockpit speakers are powered off the port battery bank, the rest are all off the starboard bank. YMMV

I'd bet someone else's salary that this is not the OEM amp setup. :)

I was able to get the OEM stereo drawing for my model boat by asking Sea Ray customer service via their web site. It shows exactly where the amps were, two in my case, a large one for the cockpit and a smaller one for the cabin speakers. Wouldn't hurt to ask them and see what they can deliver.

Thanks Alnav, I did reach out to Sea Ray customer service asking for info on amp location. Waiting on reply. Thanks.

Was it not in your manual? Just curious as you may be able to find the answer in 5 minutes.

I have a printed copy of all the parts, very detailed, for the entire boat with diagrams of where everything is located, it is 14 pages but no mention of audio amplifier. Waiting on response from Sea Ray.

That sounds like a parts manual, not the owner's manual. If for nothing else, the owner's manual has some good info in it. You can download it on SR's site if you don't have the original.

Went to the sea ray site to download my manual and my 1994 Sea Ray Express Bridge is not listed. I know they only made them for 3 years; 1992, 1993 and 1994. None of them are listed. Guess I will have to start pulling things apart to find my Audio Amp. if there is one.

You might want to call or pay a visit to Prince William Marina in Woodbridge. The parts department has access to lots of info on Sea Ray boats including computerized drawings. I would think the odds are they sold your boat originally.

Some of the older models, it's hit or miss. It was worth a shot. Sometimes a similar model will share components and even general locations.

Give SR a few days - hopefully they'll get back to you.

Thanks, Sea Ray got back to me and said boat was too old and to check on the searay.com website.

Called PWM and they have no idea where the Amp might be. When I pulled the radio out I could see where all the wires were going aft towards the arch. Will try pulling a panel in the rope locker just under the arch. Will let you know.

Well I think I found the clarion amplifier. Pulled the D.C. power panel off and spotted the blue/white amp turn on wire. Got a mirror and saw a black box with Clairon on it, it is almost covered by an air conditioner duct. Couldn't see any wires going to it just the top of the amp. It is bolted to the bottom of the power panel with a large a/c duct on top of it. Cant see any way to remove the amp.
Looks like I might have to get a new amp. and mount it in the cabinet where the head unit is. Will need to find 12vdc and cut the wires to the old amp. Any thoughts. Thanks
