I just purchased a 2001 400 DB and I just noticed a problem with the door at the top of the bridge stairs. it has two gas assist rods and the rear one the bracket is loose I tried to tighten the screws and found that the top screw is double the size of the bottom one. it will tighten but the bottom one just spins and there is about a half inch of movenent in and out.
The fiberglass looks like it is damaged and will need to be fixed as well as the problem with the screws need to be fixed.
My qauestion is has anyone had this problem and what did you have to do to fix it?
It seems to me that ther may be some kind of plate or something that is behind the glass for the screws to secure into but I really don't know.
If anyone has any information I would really apprecate any input.

For what it's worth, my 2003 bridge door has all the hardware through-bolted with stainless steel nylon lock nuts.

Even the lower brackets?

Sounds like they learned their lesson.

I am just not sure how to approach this problem. This weekend I fixed a leaky port hole in the port head. it wasn't a big deal just had to remove the port hole and clean out all of the old caulking clean up the whole area and then recaulk and install the port and clean up the area.

I am not sure how I am going to get the bottom crew out of the bracket seeing that it is just spining.
Oh well maybe a call to Sea Ray tech support might help.
