3.0 lx 1997. I have replaced some lifters and noticed that the oil restriction plate in the lifter itself must be a different size since more oil is being pumped through it. I did buy oem . I'm really not worried about the little bit more oil being slung around in there.BUT now I am getting some extra flyby up through the breather tube and it is accumulating on top of the flame arrester and slowly dripping down to eventually come to rest on the floor Beneath the motor. Not much, I would say 1/4 cup after a whole day of ridding.
so my question is how nessasary is this breather? Can I just cap it off? I was thinking about a breather filter but it would just leak from there in time. Thanks

Roll up a piece of coarse scotchbrite and insert it in the hose end near arrestor. Oil coming up in the vapor will "condense" on the scotchbrite and run back down the inside of the breather hose.
I did this in a old tired small block due to blowby. I got tired of it running down onto the exhaust manifold and stinking. I ran her 2 seasons and never had the scotchbrite deteriorate.
Good luck, hope it helps ya.
