Looks awsome. I'm in your area and am going to be doing heated storage next winter so I can work on my girl all next off season. I think I want to have the floor done by someone for lots of reasons, the main one being I'm getting old and I know doing the floor myself would kick my butt. Does your guy do other types of woodworking too, or just floors?

he specializes in hard wood flooring, but is schooled in it all
ill get some better pics up tomorrow, beacuse this camera phone one doesnt do it justice, i was suprised how good it came out so far
i am only 29, but i hear ya on the crawling on the floor thing, that gets real old real quick!!

Where did you get the materials? Approx. how much per square foot for just the materials? Looks GREAT, can't wait to see the finished product.

We definitely want more pics!!! Keep us posted!

Your floor looks like the one I have at home, is it cumaru?

i found the mateial for $5.85 a sq ft.
im not sure what kind of teak it is i will bring one of the flyers home with me and let you know more details
it should be done in the next week and a half, i will get some better pics up then, i think you guys are gonna like the way were handling the panels in the floor, it should come out real nice!

I'm really curios about the panels in the floor... I'm not 100% happy with mines...

That floor is looking sharp!

It is difficult to discern from the picture, but it appears that the material is not tongue and grooved and the installer is using a simple butt joint. If this is the case, it would be a very unacceptable method of installing any wood floor. An alternate method is to use continuous edge splines in each piece. If he is using biscuit joinery, which I can not see, this would also be unacceptable.

Could be in for big surprise if it gets to hot or to cold or to damp . That glue isn't going to hold that even after a while. I installed tongue and grove bamboo with flooring mastic and fitted it tight ,if I look close I can see places that it is trying to raise up.Time will tell It looks great .....Rip

the floor is tongue and groove, and were not using mastic. the name of the glue escapes me, but it is a special glue for hardwood flooring, recomended for applications similar to this. it has been used for exterior glue down projects with this exact wood as a matter of fact. he and i did alot of research and this stuff is the best out there, very pricey but the best. as i stated it has been used in exterior applications so im not too concerned about the temperature, but i understand your concern.
i will post a better pic, because it isnt raised up that is to blame on my camera phone with a bad angle, but its definitley down!!

how were gonna handle the hatches is attaching a 1/16" thick piece of aluminum on all four sides of the floor to create a metal to wood joint so the wood doesnt rub together, its gonna be alot of work but he is making this job his model to hopefully get more work out of it so he wouldnt let me take the easy way out and just put "T" moulding around all 4 sides.
and were gonna recess a "D" ring handle in the panel, similar to the one found in the teak hatch below the passenger seat in the cockpit

like i said ill post better pics this weekend when i get it cleaned up down there
