That is funny. We are getting some interesting ads reported by our members. This is my explanation of how I understand Google Ads to work from the other thread:

I am saying again that most of the time the site does not control Google Ads. I went to the site from another computer that is not used for CSR and did not log in. The ads presented were for a variety of boating products AND stuff we had recently searched for on Google on that computer. That is how Google Ads works, it keeps track of your searches to place relevant ads in various sites for people who might thinking of buying the product they were searching for.

Another example is I recently looked at a particular manufacturer of shoes, since then I have seen ads from probably a half dozen retailers of that brand of shoes. The retailers pay Google to place those ads in the sites I visit. You may visit the same sites and never see those ads because they were displayed to ME due to MY search history. If you look at Bayliners their ads are going to come up for YOU, even in a Sea Ray site. Neither Google nor Bayliner deliberately placed the ad in the SR site, but the ad followed the user.

That is my understanding of how Google ads works. Do some of you computer guys know anything different? MM

What the heck you been searching Marshall? :smt043

MM, No last night I had ads for Chinese and Russian dating services and Solar panels. Neither of which I was "Googling"

Usually if you right click on the ad and click properties, you can see where the ad is from, it will show GoogLeads, DoubleClick etc. It is subject of international intrigue and espionage how and why they show what they do.

What ARE you guys looking at? :smt043

Obviously isn't worth paying google for the ads on the site on Australia. I have yet to see an ad on the site
