I have been looking at purchasing a 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer with a Bravo III drive this spring. Currently the props are off and it appears that there may be slight leakage from the prop seal.

My question is I have looked at several diagrams and there appears to be two prop seals. Can anyone confirm this for sure? How are these seals changed? Drill tiny holes and put a screw in them to pop them out? Use a seal puller under the lip?

Please advise. Thanks again.

What model Searay? I have a 1998 SeaRay 250 Sundancer w/7.4L Bravo 3. Are you sure the prop shaft seals are leaking? If the fluid is milky than it's definately leaking and if so how long has it been leaking???? Stuff to think about

I am not 100% sure the seals are leaking. I had talked to the dealer and they are pressure testing the drive before I decide to do a survey and sea trial (it's a consignment boat). I had seen the outdrive casing which appeared to be wet just under the prop shaft. Again, I'm not 100% sure it's leaking, but I was just looking at worst case scenario.

If this was a wet slipped boat, visually inspect the the gear case where the seal resides. I had an issue with electrolosis that ate away the metal needed to hold the seal securely in place. I had to replace the gear housing....If you get serious about the boat, get it surveyed by someone of your choice.

The boat is a fresh water trailed boat. The props were already off for winter storage. As I said, it was tough to tell if there was a leak or not. A leak down test should verify it right away. There was some slight corrosion around the carrier/case but nothing like some of the wet slipped boats that I noticed around the yard on blocks. The survey is already scheduled. At this point I'm just waiting on the weather to get somewhat nicer.
