A new 'symptom' on my '98 310DA....

On starboard, when going from higher RPM back to neutral, the engine 'sticks' at about 1200 RPM. Seems that if I pop the hatch and manually push the throttle body level that attaches to the throttle cable it will drop down. Tried lube on all the pivot points and no improvement. Makes for a very unhappy shift into gear.

I can't seem to find directions on how to properly adjust the cable, however it looks simple enough, pull the little plastic adapter and spin it around until something works.

Is there a proper 'spec' on this, or should I just play moving it in one direction vs. the other.

IAC? Really? This seems purely mechanical.

I'll need to hook it up to the computer and see if the IAC is registering properly.. I do have a spare IAC on board...

Had the same symptom on my efi 1998.

When it was stuck in a high rpm, I would shut the engine down, restart and it would be back to a normal idle.

Cables just don't go out of adjustment

Thanks I'll have to check that. Thanks for the pointer.

In your case, were you able to 'manually' force the throttle back down by manipulating the throttle cable? I'll have to see if a restart makes it 'reset'

Never tried to push the cable.

Your boat is old enough to have a bad cable. you should be able to trouble shoot that easy enough.

Just saying what happened to mine
