Been having issues with my port drive lately, where it sometimes will not shift into gear after a run. Cold shifting is no problem. Just changed out the drive oil (Mercury Hi performance) so it should not be an oil issue and since it shifts without a problem when cold, it doesn't appear to be a cable issue. The other day I ran out to Fire Island and when I got there had to dock with the starboard motor only. Was fine when I left and even when I got home it shifted without a problem when docking. Thinking I'll need a clutch soon. Sad because it only has 300 hrs on it. One weird thing though, after the shifting issue the other night, when we were ready to leave I could not get the key into the ignition to start the port motor. I jiggled/pushed it and eventually was able to get the key in and start. I'm not aware of any safety between the ignition and the drive other than only being able to start in neutral. Any ideas?
