I removed the two props on my Bravo 3 along with the thrust hubs and prop nuts in order to lubricate the inner and outer propeller shafts. Problem is, I forgot how the propeller nuts were oriented on the shaft prior to removing them. Could someone tell me how the larger nut and the smaller nut are oriented. Does the flat side of the larger nut face the forward propeller? Does the tapered side of the smaller nut face the anode? Not sure if I have this correct. Any help would be appreciated.

Tapered side of the larger nut faces away from the forward prop. The smaller nut, the nylon piece is towards the end of the shaft..

I believe I have the smaller nut like you said, the nylon piece is towards the end of the shaft. However for the the larger nut, I have the tapered end facing forward (toward the forward prop). Is that correct?

I would describe it as - the large nut has a taper on it that matches the large prop. So when installing the rear or larger prop on the shaft, you will see this taper facing you or towards the rear. The nut will be installed with the taper first and it will meet up with the prop on the taper. The small prop goes on next and the plastic lock ring will trail, or more specifically, not be the leading surface.

Hope this helps and does not confuse matters.

Thanks for the clarification boatrboy and the detailed diagram Bob & Sue. I have it installed correctly. You guys ready for a new season of boating?
