Hi everyone,

I purchased my boat used and needed to get the props repaired and balanced. I got them back today but I am uncertain if it matters how I align them. It is a single outdrive with a Bravo 3 unit and both props are a 3 fin.
I was reading and get conflicting info. Some places say the fins should never be aligned over each other in a rotation, and other things that say it doesn't matter just put them on and go. Can someone please chime in with what is correct please?
Thanks in advance!

Back when I had my 330 with twin B-3’s, I was told by people in the know that the props should be installed so that the blades do not pass under the cavitation plate at the same time. It can cause vibration and may hamper performance.
When installing the props I would simply install the front one with a blade pointing straight down at the ground and the rear prop with a blade pointing at the cav plate. I don’t know if it mattered on my boat as they were always installed in that way.

If orientation really does not matter then installing as My3sons described will work fine, and if it does matter My3sons pattern will still work fine. Oh, his method is the same one that was used on our 280.

There is truth to this "clocking of the props", but it's actually in reference to the old Blackhawk performance drives. While it makes no difference with a regular B3, it can't hurt to do it, either. For some reason, even though I know better, whenever I put props on, I still clock them!

Agree. My ocd won’t allow my to let 2 blades come to 12:00 at the same time even though I know it makes little to no difference.
