Bravo 3 painting. Should I paint Prop Shaft bearing carrier?

These are from my 06 AJ 290. Should I paint the bearing carriers to protect them or are they part of the protection system. They are in great shape so far.
Boat is kept in water. Middle Chesapeke Bay (Kent Island)
Brakish water.
