On our last trip this season we encountered someone towing some type of fishing device in the channel of the Patapsco River. My wife spotted an aluminum sled looking thing in the water sticking up 6-8" and dark in color. We were going 16-17 knots, I had to hard reverse but stopped just before crossing the lines. When we got to our slip for the night at the marina in Baltimore I backed into the slip but got a pulsing feeling, I thought I was hitting ground - we were in 6' of water. I didn't feel the pulsing again until we got back to our marina on Middle River and was backing out of the pump-out slip. It seems to do this pulsing in reverse. I spoke with a prop shop about an unrelated question and brought this incident up. The prop shop said it sounds like I might of spun a hub. I was down this weekend and pulled the outer prop but don't see a hub similar to what I had on my Bravo 1, it was rubber. Does the Bravo 3 have a hub? I did see the brass sleeve but nothing made of rubber/plastic. Has anyone encountered something similar?

No, there is no "hub" on a B3. The only rubber thing is the coupler, but I don't see that being the issue. "Pulsing" is hard to understand, but I would look real close at the blades to see if one is bent - otherwise the next thing would be the gears in the drive. But I wouldn't really use the term "pulsing" for gear problems.

Pull the forward prop too and look for anything caught around the shaft.

"Shudder" might be a better description and I don't think it's a gear problem.

I've done a little "research" on this... I'm betting cone clutch.
