Thought it might be interesting if we could share this season’s numbers now that many of us are shrink wrapped. The winner would of course claim bragging rights for “hard core boater of the year”. The final hours for some may be disappointing, such as the poor souls that had their lakes drained out from under them. To those that were able to take month long trips, I think we all already concede considerable envy, or maybe spite for being able to pull this off.

My usage to date according to smartcraft: 115 hours, 1,254 miles, 1,232 gallons of gas

What time frame are you calling this season. Some of us were boating on Jan 1.(Grin)

So far, 113 hours, about 1500 miles, and almost 2000 gallons - bought boat in West Palm and cruised home to Panama City, then over to Apalach and back, then over to Destin and back, then over to Crooked Island and back, then over to the Navy base and back, then over to downtown for lunch 3 times and back, then over to Apalach and back, and to the dealer and back two or three times, and over to the island and back at least 20 times. Add a couple of dinner cruises...

P.S. - We need separate contests for gas vs diesel. It's like flying versus driving.

I'm gas.

162 hours, 21 ish GPH on my, uh, diesels. I guess I am flying.

Finished annual services and winterization of the Cummins yesterday, which was the final winterization step. Gen set, (200 hours, BTW) AC/heaters, Fresh Water system , heads, transmissions (no ferrous metal in the filters, gotta like that) racor primaries, zincs in the Cummins and Onan, etc. all done. New oil, oil filters, secondary fuel filters, and coolant filters all done on the mains. Broke my oil filter wrench on the stbd oil filter, which is about the size of a 105MM howitzer shell. Managed to whack my head on the port oil filter mount when the wrench let go, so I have a cool gouge at my hairline which really impressed my sons.

Cabin is detailed. Shower sump is clean. Replaced the water lines from the A/C seacock to strainer and strainer to water pump. the original hoses showed some slight surface cracking and why defer that maintenance. The high water bilge pump in the engine room had never been installed properly at the factory, and it would not pump becuase the base was warped, so I fixed that as well.

Fuel tanks are topped off and I added Diesel 9-1-1, Power Service Diesel Kleen, and a shock dose of biocide, which, along with purchasing fuel from reputable high volume sellers, means that I will run 160 or so hours next year with no fuel filtration problems.

Went to the restaurant at the SR dealer for dinner last night. Saw a new 44DA with all the bells and whistles. Dealer price: $740K. New 47DB: a cool million. Sheesh. My 03 420DA looks better and better.

120 days until boating season begins.

I will run the numbers later, but to have the dealer do the work I did over the last three days would have been in the $3,500 range. My cost for parts, fluids, etc. was around $300, and I know it is done right.

regards
Skip

Hey Skip, do you like beer? I have beer on my boat. Come on over and have a beer.

Ok, now that my boat just got hauled today. 125 hours 83 days on the boat and 49 nights. no idea how far or how many gallons... I'm guessing about 1 1/2 inches high in $100 bills. The only reason I know how many days and nights on the boat is because my GF told me.

Oh and the last cruise today was in 25mph winds with ice on the deck of the boat. Good thing I winterized the water system 2 weeks ago.

And I had a couple of tears in my eye as I zipped up the canvas and left. I'm not sure if it was because I was sad or my frozen eyeballs were thawing.

Are you trying to pass me on posts?

Can I get in the running for the most desperate of the season?? I sold my 250 DA September 1st with family in town for the Labor day weekend and a long 3 day weekend of boating... went boatless for 7 weeks but managed to spend 3 weekends on a friends boat when he was out of town. Bought the new boat with 10 days left in the season (marina gets pulled from the Ohio on 11-01) Spent the last full weekend with the die-hards on the river and the last full night by myself, no other boats on the dock, wife out of town, totally alone on my new boat. Which by the way with only a pillow, TV, beer and a few CD's barely even felt like my own boat. I felt like I was a stowaway... Now I'm wrapped and blocked for another 172 days looking at pictures of the new boat, watching football on the new 19" Flat pannel HDTV (which belongs in the cabin), plannig the "re-naming ceremony" for the spring and almost down to counting the hours until 05-01-08. OUCH.........

A WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least nobody complains about the loud tunes and running around naked. Oops, did I really write that?

Dude, did you see me??? If so..... I was a bit chilly that evening...:smt043 My wifte thinks I need help now that I have found folks like (us) you to comissearte about the long boatless season. All of my retirement goals are geared towards eliminating the winter lay-up from my vanacular. 16 more short years as a Lieutenant/Fire/Medic/SWAT and I'm off to my Nordhavn 47 where I'll catch up with you all on the CSR board. until then please hang in there with me. I'll be mostly see but not heard, but a nuggett may bubble to the surface for discussion.

Here here. When I grow up, I plan to have a home in the North and one in the South. I already have my home in the North (Panama City, Fl). Hopefully, the one in the South will float (by design).

I hear the ice part.

My boat is still in the water. . and I am only 60 miles south of turtle. I was not fun putting on the cover with frost forming on the foredeck in the brisk evening air. (I pull next weekend)

Can I claim the record for "Soft Core" boating?

We have one more trip to make tomorrow, weather permitting. When we return, we will have logged just shy of 50 hours.

I'll take my 50 hours and go sit in the corner for now, but I still have the rest of this month and next month to use the boat till Jan. Like Chuck said do we start counting Jan 1 to Dec 31 :) That's my season

I'm not done-done yet (everything is winterized except the mains, and I might actually get a few more hours if we go to a local retaurant between now and mid December) but for all practical purposes....

82.5 hours....1306 gallons.....$3522.....15.8 GPH (not a typo).....and a little over 1400 SM

I would have liked to join the "Century" club...maybe next season....

well before we sold in late July we had 94 hours. Ironically the boat we're buying has exactly that on it now, in total since new.
I don't know that I know how many nights onboard. I did not do a good logging our trips this last couple seasons.
I have a new shiny log book waiting for the new one though and intend on being more detailed
