I have a Max Power CT165 on my boat, and yesterday while docking, the thruster made a loud whining sound, with no thrust, in both directions. Generator was running, and stern thruster worked, so I do not believe it's a battery issue.

I went in the water and confirmed that there is nothing in the tube, and I was able to spin both props with my hand. I also looked at the interior part of the motor while someone else pressed the button, and I see the shaft spinning.

any ideas or suggestions?

Are you getting zero thrust? I had very low thrust from mine even though it made noise. I thought the drive or prop was broken. I got in the water and had my wife activate it both directions. Turns out it had very low thrust. I removed both batteries and had them tested. One failed with low voltage but it didn't seem low enough to make that much of a difference. I replace it and it works as new now.

Just a thought.

You don't need it. Now is a great time to learn to handle your boat without it.

Yes, it's good to know how to dock it without the thruster, which I've been doing.

on the other hand, docking a 50,000 pound fly bridge boat in a strong side wind, I'd like a thruster please.

I used to put my 52', 48,000 Motoryacht anywhere I wanted without thrusters. Big 4-blade props and a full keel made the difference. A cross wind barely moved it. I sometimes forget the big Sea Rays lack a full keel.

Hello...I am having the same issue with my 330 Sundancer. I too have the Max Power version....can u tell me how u ended up getting this repaired?? Thx, Ron
