Bow Thruster Install in 2003 400DB

Some additional photos:

Looking aft through the bow thruster tube hole.

They are making a port and starboard supplemental piece due to the "bullet proof" design that Sea Ray implemented in this area. I was glad to hear they were impressed with the quality and construction. But, it did add a small amount as a change order.

The panel in place prior to the fiberglass lay up work.

Still on track to splash Monday morning, so it should all be complete by Friday afternoon.

Getting closer:

I installed the control today.

The yard was finishing up the glass work:

Should be complete by late in the day tomorrow. We will splash Monday.

The job is complete

I got 145 gallons of fuel for $3.93 per gallon and then headed back to my slip. What a pleasure to dock, 20 knots or sop of wind on the beam, .94 knots of current (flood). Piece of cake with the new mod. I should have done this years ago.

Looks nice, almost like factory installed. Congrats!

Very nice Job!

Boy, if I ever find myself in need of fiberglass work...I'm going to these guys!

Where are you putting the batteries? I do not like where Sea Ray put them, right smack in the middle of my access between the motors. I'm looking for relocation ideas. I saw a 400 DB with them in the same compartment as the thruster once, and Florida Bow Thruster shows installs with that set up on their website.

I like your knife storage area

One question, is the flange that the motor mounts to on the cross tube above the water line? Just wondering about seal leakage with age.

SR, Good to hear your project finished up well. I went to put the props back on today and while I was there I took a look to refresh my memory on the thruster. Just as a comparison of notes, The tube is even further back in the storage locker than I thought, and now looking at the way it is installed, I would have to say that it was installed before they put the floor in the hull. In this pic I took today, the center of the tube is about under the sharpie., top of pic is forward. Enjoy your new addition

Interesting, mine is located approximately 18" forward of your tube location. In my research, two things were advised, forward and low. The yard did achieve that for me, it works great. Curious to know the size of your motor? Thanks
