Hello all happy boaters!

I`m just about to install a Bowthruster in our boat, and the only hint i`ve got so far regarding the placement of the tunnel is in the bottom of the forward stowingcompartment in the cabin!
I have heard rumours about double bottom filled with foam and all kind of scary stories!
Is there anyone who knows if there is something wrong with that position?

I can't comment on the double bottom. I can reccomend that you make sure the top of the tunnel is below the waterline. Your thruster manufacturer will recomend a minimum distance from the waterline to the top of the tunnel.

I don't know about a 97 270DA but I personally watched one be installed on a 340DA by professionals and the process should be just the same. I don't know what your abilities are but having seen it done, unless you have special tools and lots of fiberglass experience I recommend hiring someone who does this as a trade. Not saying it could never be done DIY but it is not as simple as it may sound to many people.

And, at least in the case of the 340 I watched, the hull was filled with foam.

Ok, now it`s done!
It took two brave guys 8 hours!
The last finishing touch will be made next weekend with gelcoat!
