We have a 1998 40' Sedan Bridge. Would like to get a rough idea of the cost of installing a tunnel mounted bow thruster for this size boat. Curious as to what the real cost experience has been for others on this size boat - you know: parts, labor, haul-out, tax, title, dealer prep, etc. etc., basically how many zeros were on the check! We've gotten some pretty big quotes here in South Florida, but heard others on this forum with much lower numbers...

Thanks in advance for your experience.

Florida Bow Thrusters is a very reputable company. I priced them out for my 400DB. It was going to cost $9,000, complete. If we keep this boat, that's the route we are going.

I just looked through my notes, Mid-Atlantic Marine Tech charged me $5800 for a SE60/185 bow thruster. Clarks Landing the local Sea Ray dealer quoted me $9k.

When we were shopping 4 years ago, we looked at a 2001 in Cleveland that had a Florida Bow Thruster Install on it. The owner paid just a tick over $10k. I suppose you would have to take into account that the travel added to that number. It was a really nice looking install with the AGM batteries in the thruster locker with the thruster. Our factory install has the batteries in between the engines, pain in the butt when working in the ER.

My thruster was installed in mid summer 2010 and was right at $10K. For that I got a thruster that supplies about 50% more thrust than what the charts suggested was necessary, a 10" tunnel instead of 8", and batteries installed in the bow right next to the thruster.

Florida Bow Thruster installed on my 420 Sundancer, about $ 7500. They installed the charge and AGM battery in the foward salon floor along with a wireless remote and joystick at the helm. THey should be able to cut you a deal in florida as they travelled to NY for mine.

+1 I had the 10-inch tunnel with a 10 hp Side Power unit installed. 2 AGM's right next to the thruster motor with #1 cable to the ER. I also got the hand held remote for when I am running the boat by myself.... CIMG0390.JPG
