Has anyone done an aftermarket install for bow/stern thrusters on a 99-02 310 DA? If so, what did you use? This is a general question and doesn't have to be my year/model but I'm looking to do this upgrade to my boat since my marina is rather tight to move around. I know it's pricey, but should I get a bow? Just 1 or also a stern then use the engines for forward/back?

Sorry for the amount of questions. Just looking for some basic answers and direction for people who've done it in the last.

I have a MaxPower bow thruster on my 350. It came from the factory, so I can't speak about after market, but I can share my experience.

Having just the bow thruster is perfectly adequate on a boat my size. I have v drives and between the engines and the bow thruster I can pretty much get in and out of most tight situations. I tend to only use my bow thruster when backing into my slip. The current pushes me away from my finger pier. The engines will keep my stern in place, the bow thruster helps keep my bow in place.

When end docking you should be working the throttles to make the boat do what you want. The thruster just gives you a little boost. It's also helpful for getting off of the fuel dock, etc.

We had an after market Vetus bow thruster installed last year by Florida Bow Thrusters (they work all over the U.S.) They did a good job and it is sooooo handy when it's windy and in tight docking situations. You should be able to get away with just the bow thruster on your size boat. Shifters bring the stern in and the bow thruster does the rest:) Really recommend it. Good luck;)
