I am assuming the bow roller on my trailer is supposed to roll... Well mine is locked up and scratching my gelcoat. I am looking to replace it, has anyone had good or bad luck with rollers? Any kind I should stay away from?

Thanks
CP

Is it black rubber? They go bad pretty fast.

Buy a poly or pvc roller (usually yellow, but can be black). The best one in the industry is one made by Stoltz - but $$$.

Gov, Did you replace the roller? Was it the roller itself or was the bracket pinching the roller not allowing it to turn?

Thanks
CP

I loosened it to the point it was almost falling off and it still wouldn't turn so I'm assuming that the shaft is bent. I just happened to have a new one sitting in the garage that I meant to put on my old boat trailer and never got around to it so I plan on changing them out this weekend when I put the boat in the water. That was quite a long sentence, wasn't it?

Finally got around to fixing my roller. It was the bracket that was too tight. A little help from a crowbar and everything works as it should.

When you pull it apart you might try some silicone spray lubicant on the shaft every so often. But you could also spring for a bow scuff plate too.

You must be talking about the trailer roller? ....not the anchor roller?

Yes sir, that is correct. My appologies for not being more specific. I was refering to the forward most roller on my trailer right in front of my winch.
