Hello all, will like to hear your opinion about use of Bow rail fender holder for a 260 DA, and which one if recommended?

Will like to free up some storage in the cockpit, but concern about visibility issues with them...

I have mine mounted there as well and it's hard to see around the starboard rack.

I find myself constantly moving my head around so I can see ahead of me in traffic. It's not so much a problem with seeing boats, it's the jet skiers that can be obstructed by the fenders. I'm not saying it's a bad thing necessarily as I think it makes me more aware and alert at the helm.

Just leave them deployed--problem solved!!! :smt043

Consider fender tenders that allow you to store them horizontally on the bow rail? A couple of folks I know really like theirs. You have more flexibility in placement since they don't have to be aligned with a stanchion.

The one below is a fairly fixed arrangement, as you thread the whip all the way through the grip, but there are various models available.

We figured out that we can wedge ours between the outer hull and the rail horizontally and they are fine. I leave them tied to the rail so even if they were to bounce out we wouldn't lose them but at least they are mostly stowed and not taking up room in our cockpit or obstructing our view on the bow.

I was starting to get worried about hauling the fenders back and forth while trying to stay on the boat and we decided that leaving them in place, though wedged horizontally made the most sense. Not sure if this will work in every boat configuration though...

All 4 of mine are on the rail in racks. I have no problems seeing around them. The only issue some folks are having is that the set the racks in a way that they block the nav lights.

The racks are expensive tho. You just kinda need to find what's right for you and your style boat.

we wedge or front and mid in between the hull and rail but take the rear one off and throw it under the rear seat

I jam mine into the anchor locker, not as handy but I dont like stuff cluttering up the bow

Wow - yeah with the size of our fenders I could fit maybe one into the anchor locker. To be fair we do tend to "over-fender" our boats but I see it as cheap insurance.

We got two of these babies to keep our dinghy off of the lock walls. They work great and are meant to inflate and deflate quickly and storage is a breeze. We love them!

yea even in the locks I just use the normal like 7" ones - older boat I stress less about gelcoat issues I guess. I have been known to dock and say "eh the rub rail will get it"

It all depends on how much money you want to spend.... 2015-02-18 16.50.10.jpg
Mine are custom cut & welded into the bow rail, thank God I didn't have to pay for them !

I agree with Bill Collector. Here are mine that I did all of the labor, fabrication and welding:

That represents $1,500 in stainless tubing. All depends on your desire and budget.
