Does anyone have for sale or know where I can get a good bow pulpit for a 1977 240 Weekender... I looked into the metal track w/roller at the end, but doesn't seem long enough to stick out over the end and would need a wedge support. I am planing on install a windlass so I need a good pulpit to handle the anchor. My other problem is the deck of the bow doesn't go all the way to the nose. The decks stops about a 1' from the nose, and tapers down about 4", so I would need a wedge, if you will, to support the taper.. Thanks for all your help folks.

This is a little bigger project than you may think, the pulpit is a pretty substantial piece of the boat. You need to use teak or similar wood to make a good one, and that's pretty expensive. I made my own, and you can kind of see it in my profile pic below, but it was almost 500 bucks when all was said and done. You could do a search and see what you come up with. I think the cheapest way to make one that works and looks good is to make it out of 3/4 inch plywood double or tripple thick and then glass it in with fiberglass. That's how the factory did them on some boats in the 90's. You need to seal ALL the holes up really well though, like with 5200, like you do on the deck or the transom with any and all possible entrance points for water.

Thanks Randy. Looks really good. My problem as you can see from the picture is that my deck is not notched like yours to accept a pulpit. Secondly, the deck of the bow doesn't go all the way to the nose of the boat. There is about 6" where deck slopes down to the nose. That's where I would need some kind of wedge.

That is definitely going to make it a bit more tricky. Do you have a picture of the nose of the boat looking down at about a 45 degree angle? Might help with some ideas...

How big is the anchor locker cover and the depth of the anchor locker itself?

Randy,
My boat is at the marina right now. I'm hoping to pick it up this weekend and replace a AMP gauge I'm waiting to come in through the mail. Once I pick it up and get it back to the house, I will take better pictures for you. Thanks for all the help. Again, you did a great job on you pulpit....

I think your boat is similar to mine (1977 30' weekender) and this is what I did to overcome the deck condition and to align the anchor rode and windlass in the locker.

That's beautiful. Did you have the stainless part made ?

Complete agreement with Todd, that is one beautiful piece of work. Congratulations. Makes mine look like I cobbled it together in a 1/2 hour!!

Definitely looks like the same bow....would be a great addition to your boat Lance.

That's a lot more work that I would be willing to do for a pulpit! Looks nice, but you could drop the anchor manually a LOT of times before you put in the effort to make one of those.

It looks REALLY nice though!
