Just bought a 280DA yesterday, still in shrink wrap at the dealer. Thought I got a great deal on the boat and looking forward to enjoying it soon.
Just got a call today from the dealer informing me that the boat was a SR demo and has 25 hours on it. Should I be concerned? Dealer says that is was driven by SR at their facility.
It has new warranty and looks spotless(we climbed into the shrink wrap). Any help would be appreciated.

If it was a demo at the factory any potential problems seen by factory guys may have already been taken care of. Your after delivery fix list may be short as a result. I myself would not be concerned with 25 hours of factory run time.
 
If it was a demo boat, it should have been priced accordingly and disclosed before the sale. Other than that, it should not be a big concern.

They should have mentioned that prior to the sale but if you got a good enough deal then it probably doesn't matter.
 
When you negotiated the price would you have approached it differently had you known it had 25hrs? This is just plain poor of the dealer. The day after you buy the "new" boat they tell you it's been used, that's no coincidence. You have no idea how this boat was used.
 
I think that the dealer is so large and this boat was still in shrink wrap that the sales person had no idea. They have now offered another 1k off the negotiated price and the 1st service free.
 
Based on the new developments, there is no way they can hold me to the deal if I choose to back out.
 
If the saleperson didn't know it was a demo then he negotiated a new boat price with you. Do you feel a 1k reduction from new boat price is fair? I don't. If you purchased the same 280 from one of the members at this forum you would expect a used boat price wouldn't you? You didn't share the year and other specifics so it is hard say much more.
 
This is a 2007 and was about 3K less than a similar boat. They were not sure at the time why this boat was priced less. Now we know! It does however have some nice options.
 
If it was me I would back out and start negotiations again. That is, if you can. I can bet you will do better than the 1K off. If not I'll buy you a CSR hat. Good luck Glen. Brian
 
In CT, 25 hours is 1/3 of a season for most people.

You did not mention what options were (or were not) incuded. I would try to squeeze them for some dealer installed options. Is there an option that you would like to have, but did not get initially?
 
The boat has fresh water cooling, cockpit cover, dual fuel stove, and premium sound system that the other boat did not have. I also negotiated a year wet slip storage, an additional engine tune up, bottom cleaning next year, and numerous other goodies. This boat was repackaged from the factory, the head has never been used and was still taped closed. I did verify that SR used it to show the boat to dealers at the factory.
 
No remorse at all. Just trying to answer all the ?'s and make an informed decision....which we made this afternoon. We are in Alabama and will be boating on Lake Martin.
 
How about some electronics? Maybe a GPS? Fishfinder? How about a mooring cover?

Maybe you can get them to throw something in?

What other options are available on that boat?
 
uhhhhh????? Looks like you didn't know what you were getting. 25 hours no big deal. The fact that it was not disclosed for whatever reason to me would be.

As long as everyone is cordial and fair i wouldn't have any concerns. From the info you have delivered I still am not sure what options are on it that makes you think it's such a great deal, or price, or what you are comparing the boat to..... another 2007 with less hours????

If it were me, I would politely rewind, and start back over at the table. You know you are getting a fine boat (love a 280DA). The rest is paperwork :smt001
