Any recommendation on who to use around Annapolis, and what a good price would be? Just quoted $4,100 for a 310 for stripping, 2 barrier coats, and 2 coats of ablative paint.

WOW! That sounds high to me. I can't recommend anyone in your area but I can tell you that the local yard in my area quoted me about $700 to soda blast my 89 300. I plan to do this next fall and do the barrier coat and paint myself. I'd shop your estimate around a bit before writing the check. You are in a high dollar area of the bay, you may need to take the boat somewhere else if you can get a better rate. Also, many yards won't permit anyone but themselves to perform bottom paint removal so that could drive up costs by eliminating competition.
Let us know what you find.

You'll find prices, especially on this forum, all over the place. I just paid $2200 to have mine media blasted with walnut shells this past Fall. I am barrier coating and painting myself in the spring. BigW is right about some yards not allowing outside contractors in, or charging a percentage to allow them to come in. I moved my boat to a different marina for winter storage this year to a place that didn't charge me to bring a contractor in. My summer marina wanted 25% of the price to allow them to be there. $550 to do absolutely nothing. Crooks.

You might want to reconsider using baking soda. My experience restoring motorcycles is that the residue is impossible to remove completely and it will prevent proper paint adhesion.

Thanks for the replies. I'm open to sanding or walnut shells, just want it done right... I'd still love some recommendations.

$7,000 US in Anacortes to hand scrape and sand hull, 2 coats of epoxy and then bottom paint. Previous owner had sand blasted boat and taken off most of the gel coating thus the need for 2 coats of epoxy coating. Looked a lot better than before. It was done in 2013 and we keep the boat on the hard when not in use. It is in the water 3 to 4 months a year. Bottom paint still looks good and there is no deterioration. Seemed expensive but we save 1,000 a year by not getting hull washed and painted each spring.
