I painted the bottom of my Searay Sundancer 340 yesterday. I didn’t paint the underwater mufflers , trim tabs and the other underwater ports cause of the copper within the paint. I’m assuming all those things need to be painted. Any suggestions what to use?

Thx

You would be correct but I have used ablative bottom paint on the brass seacocks / strainers and it wasn't the end of the world. For trim tabs / props / struts I used spay on zinc (Pettit Prop coat- good for about 6 months). If you have outdrives / aluminum I would use an aluminum safe paint only like interlux Trilux (worked ok). Make sure the bottom paint is about an inch away from the outdrive as you see in the boat manual so the copper doesn't leach out and damage your expensive aluminum drive. transducers have there own paint that really didn't seem to do much but ablative paint on a transducer will cause misreadings.

Best of luck

Thanks so much for ur response!!! Do u paint the underwater exhausts and if so what type of paint? Thx again !

I didn't paint them last the yard did (finding a place they will let me paint has become difficult). I would try Trilux
