Bottom paint removal question

I was going to suggest the white bottom paint also. From a few feet away, you won't even be able to see its painted. IF it were mine, I'd soda blast, barrier coat and go white ablative and be done with it. Probablly the cheapest option short of doing nothing.

I just did mine.215 EC. Not a fun job, but it was worth it. My Boat looks brand new now. Mine had about 10 coats if bottom paint on, and was chemically prepaired (primed) I had patches falling off. I took a Mac tools scraper for a single edge razor blade, and mounted a utility knife blade in it (thicker, doesn't dig in to gel coat)I also trimmed the utility blade shorter to fit. Most of the underwater stuff came off pretty easy. The strip above the water line was really hard to get off. So I sprayed it with easy off oven cleaner, and scraped a couple layers at a time off. That worked really good, and didn't harm the gelcoat.I had to wet sand some places that I dug in with my scraper, but not too bad. I was glad I did it , because there were a couple of small holes( prob from beaching on stones)in the hull that the previous owner just painted over.I borrowed a couple of boat stands from a friend of mine that works at a marina. That was key! impossible to do on a trailer.I haven't put it in the water yet, but I am hoping that I will gain a couple MPH.It probably took me between 40-50 hrs to do the job.
