Bottom paint Florida Gulf coast.....purchasing resale and need advice please

If you decided to paint the bottom of what ever boat you buy, make Damm sure that it IS NOT ZYREX I've just spent over$4000.00 to find out that the both the company and the paint are no good to say the least.I can prove every word that has been stated .. Want pictures and letters ? Watch the web site I'am going to post the story with pict. times,and dates. 2 or 3 coat of a good paint should last 1 to 2 years. the new stuff I used is less than $100.00 agal. There is a lot of good paints out there that don't cost a fortune. Good Luck....Rip

Out of curiosity: Why wouldn't you wax an unpainted boat bottom?

Single vs. Twin is a long debate (do a search). Bottom line (some are obvious) are as follows;

1) Twins will add value to the boat. (will cost more to buy. . worth more on resale)

2) Two engines = 2x maintenance costs. No discounts for "two oil changes".

3) Two engines = twice the probabability you can't take the boat out because an engine is bust. Far lower probability (but not zero) that you have come home using the "tow of shame".

4) Two engines will help the engine maneuver easier. Also, the engines don't "work as hard". Gas is NOT 2x.

But onto the painted bottom: I think that is a preference thing. Certainly, if I was keeping the boat in a dry stack, I would see a benefit of not having a painted bottom. But. . now you definately have to think harder about how long the boat stays in the water at a shot. And you are trading "bottom paint maintenance" for "bottom fiberglass maintenance". The previous owner of my boat kept the boat on a lift. . the bottom paint lasted a decade. I store in the water, and paint every year. I spend about 16 hours waxing. 2-3 hours bottom maintenance. Plus 2-3 hours outdrive paint maintenance.
