On my 85 SeaRay.SXL the hull jellcoat is badly scratched from beaching on sand and it also has a few scars that have not uncovered the glass mat and whoever owned the boat before me has badly scraped the bow against the bow stop on the trailer.
I was wondering after the scraches and scrapes are filled in and sanded if there is an easy way to apply jellcoat without taking it to the boatshop and if you know of any other solutions besides anti fouling paint. Also can automotive paint be used on the bottom? My boat is used only on freshwater lakes.
I would appreciate any advice very much! Thanks.

there is no substitute for gel coat in my opinion but there are people that spray imron instead of gelcoat.
after filling and sanding the areas that are gouged, you will need to spray either gel or imron than wet sand and buff until you are happy.
