Bottom Gel Coat

looking at a 1996 210 BRS, the white gel coat is in good shape but I noticed on the bottom of the boat there are area where there is no white left, is this normal for the bottom of the boat

No, that is not "normal". It sounds like the previous owner liked to beach the boat. When the bottom slides over the sand, it acts like sandpaper and removes the gel coat.

If the fiberglass underneath is in good shape, it shouldn't cost too much to fix.
