The boat has finally showed some sign of age. The speaker module in the forward v-berth is DOA and I am searching for a replacement. It is part of the original Lifestyle 25 series. Any leads would be appreciated.

Why not call Bose? 1-888-757-9972
I have a 13 year old Bose home theater. My son lost the remote. I called about a month ago and ordered a replacement. Not cheap, but at least I could get it.

I would also think that ebay and/or craigslist your primary options. I just had my display go dark on my lifestyle 25, but it still plays though.

After consulting with several vendors I was able to resolve this issue for $100 by purchasing a home speaker amplifier that can accomodate 8 ohm speakers and has RCA plugs for inline speaker information. I will still be able to use the zone 1 and zone 2 remotes, when necessary. The only imposition is turning the unit or off, which, to me, is a minor incolvenience. I will be adding a DVD to the master suite and and running another speaker connection to it from its location in the TV cabinet. The unit I bought is on Amazon. I will also be adding a DVD to the VIP suite. Time to get into the next century.

If anyone is interested in repairing, upgrading or expanding their Bose System, I would be happy to share my newly acquired knowledge and will have pictures that I intend to take on December 26th.

Bill, I for one am real interested; I have an aging home Bose system I would like to upgrade but retain the speakers if possible. While I would be glad to get a PM with the details, suggest you go ahead and post here in as much detail as possible, that way folks looking for similar info in the future can easily find it.

I was at the boat yesterday and tested the system. One of the amplifier features that is crucial is the auto mode which puts the unit in standby mode when not in use. It works very well and will not necessitate turning the unit on and off when using. I am satisfied with the project. I also have additional storage under the berth. I have photos if needed but I believe it to be sufficient to say that the unit is nearly as wide and deep as the orignal but is only 2 3/4 inches high as opposed to the 10 inch height of the Bose. I also notice and improvement in the audo output of the speakers.

Al - Check out your local Bose store. They have several models that they have a trade-in program on. I traded-in my Wave radio with CD and got a $300 credit toward a new one which is $499. The one I traded-in was over 10 years old. Even for Bose, the music/sound is much better.

The previous post is good advice, with one caveat. Bose must still support (repair) the unit or series. I have had great experience with Bose, as they serviced our Lifestyle 25 unit when we first purchased the boat. They declined the repair in this circumstance.

Bill, could you post more info about the unit you bought? Manufacturer, model, etc? Or a link to where it's sold on Amazon would be good as well. My Bose is not, unfortunately, one of the units they which they offer an upgrade.

We were out of the area these past two weeks so the reply is dated. The unit that I installed is an Audio Source, Amp 100, that cost about $90. As indicated, it works very well in our 2 zone configuration. It is still being offered by Amazon if you search for 'speaker amp' in the electronics section.
