Does Sea Ray sell boot stripe tape by the foot or do you have to buy a whole roll?
I have a 96 270 Sundancer and the tape is beat up 3 to 4 feet from the stern. The rest is like brand new. Can I buy 6 feet of tape to match?

It's by the roll unless you have a service dept do the work. Labor costs would eat up any savings. You might consider doing the entire boat with a tape that is readily available from a boat store. It will be cheaper in the long run. You will be doing this repair many times.

I got a 150' roll from my dealer. He didn't charge me when he gave it to me, but asked that I bring back the remainder and he would charge me only for what I used. I am returning 61 feet.

Having replaced the boot strip several times, I surrendered and just removed the old stuff, sanded and painted it with Awlgrip. Finis:thumbsup:

You can buy it by the foot. But if you can find it at an Auto store, it would be cheaper.

I like Asureyez's idea! I've been holding off buying some stripes myself because of the price. Easypoxy would be another good choice for paint. Not sure what Awlgrip (excellent stuff) runs per quart off hand, but Easypoxy is about $30 - $40.

Asureyez - did you use the Awlgrip primer? Or, did you find it wasn't needed?

My local dealer sold it to me by the foot. For now, I'm just going to replace a 10 foot section. The seam will be hardly noticeable. I think he charged me $1.50/foot. It came with the wide blue bottom stripe and the upper silver strip on the same piece of backing so they go on together.

Go to a local sign shop...chances are they have the color vinyl you are looking for and it will cost you a fraction of the price.
