I'm looking for something outside of the engine bay that is part of the boats ground system. I want to use a hanging anode but it needs to clipped to something that is part of bonding system. I was wondering if the fresh water spigot was part of the system...

Only other option that is convienent is to run a cable to transom locker from the engine bay and make a plug of some sort...

Probably not as the faucet while metal is mounted to a fiberglass bulkhead and the plumbing leading up to it is all plastic.

I know the gas fill is bonded to prevent static electricity sparking during fueling. But I don't think I'd hang a wire dangling into the water around the gas fill. The best bet may be to run a cable from the bonding buss bar to somewhere topside that you can attach the anode to.

But I have to ask, why do you think you need an additional anode. We boat in the same conditions and don't have any excessive corrosion issues. If you do it may be a sign of another issue.

I have purchased the proper DMM and silver chloride reference probe. I tested all systems and found the boat to be properly bonded. The DMM returned a consistent 1045 MV as I completed the test on all under water metals including drives and thru-hulls. That being said my anodes are wearing at a faster pace than last year. Only difference is the mooring location. Last year we were on a slip and there was limited movement other than the tidal swing. Now I'm on a mooring in Salem Harbor and there is constant movement due to shifting winds, tides and of course boat traffic. I have been told that water movement can accelerate anode wear. Since my boats systems check out ok I am assuming the water movement is the reason my anodes are wearing at a faster pace. When I consulted boat zincs.com they suggested the hanging anode to slow the pace at which the drive anodes deteriorate.

My desire to slow there wear is strictly so I can make it a whole season without being forced to due a haul. I know people change them in water but I find them difficult out of water let alone while using a mask and ratchet under water.

Hopefully all that makes sense....and more importantly is accurate.
