We did an overnighter on our Sundeck 240 to Cayo Costa State Park near Captiva Island, Florida. We were apprehensive at first because of the warmer temps and no air conditioning. We were pleasantly surprised with the cooler evening temps and the lack of bugs. We slept under the bow cover with a small fan blowing on us. Fun was had by all. We traveled with our friends in their Larson Cabrio. Boca Grande Pass is beautiful, there was a Tarpon Tournament going on.

Where's the oil?

So far Louisiana is the only area plagued by this disaster. Only time and current will decide where the next mess appears.

When I think about areas such as those in the pictures above near Captiva Island being covered in oil it brings tears to my eyes.:smt089

I agree.

This would not be pretty covered in oil. I would have to move our wintering area to some where else. Useppa Island would be hard to replace.

Great pics and cool trip!!! Thanks for sharing. The 240SD is one handy all purpose boat.

The third picture I posted shows our 240 on the right and a rental Sundeck 240 on the left side of the sand bar. By the time we walked over to chat with the rental 240 it was already high and dry on the sand. The operators were German and had no idea where they were but the rental came with sea tow instructions.

We contacted sea tow for the Germans and had never witnessed an on beach grounded extraction. The sea tow operator (without ever getting out of his boat and about 75 yards from shore) handed a line to the captain of the rental and had him tie it to the bow ring. Once attached the sea tow operator spun the Sundeck around and pulled him into the channel. I am glad I was not the entertainment for the evening!!

Jim, Great pics. I have retired parents in Port Charlotte.
We have been out on Cayo Costa before and loved it.
