This post has no wisdom, no questions, no real point to it. Just passing along some good vibrations. So you are forewarned.
Needed a break from work so my first mate and I took a couple days off. Pulled away from dock around noon yesterday and headed out with no real destination or time table in mind. Cruised for a couple hours, got the one whistle from a couple of friendly (and understandable) tow boat skippers, then thru down a hook so she could get some sun. Pulled anchor, cruised on, then stopped for fuel. Took on 300 gallons of fuel at 3.92/gal which is a fantastic price for our area so I was pretty excited about that. After a couple of hours of cruising with bob Marley and some good 'ol 80's stuff, we pulled up to the courtesy dock at a state lodge and had a nice catfish dinner. Ended up in a quiet little cove we used to go to many years ago when we had our 330da, about 50 miles upstream.
Captain Morgan and I ended up getting together a few times. I keep him in the freezer and add some lime to the diet coke. Weather showed scattered to severe thunderstorms in the area so we knew we had to dig in good. I built a new bridle a few weeks ago so it was a good opportunity to try it out. Not one chain clunk all night despite some pretty good storms. That made the wife happy. Man, I sleep like a baby when the rain is coming down. She had the coffee brewed by the time I was out of the shower this morning. A little egg, hash brown casserole for breakfast. Now I'm sitting on the back deck with a morning Bloody Mary.
Less than one day in, feeling pretty good. Boating is simply magic. Have a safe and good weekend...
