Hello!
I'm looking into getting a bigger boat. I'm sold on Sea Ray. Aside from trying to convince the wife this is smart money spent in New England(HA!), I'm noticing something in my very casual window shopping.
I've seen Sea Ray and other boats with MS HID #'s for sale up in NY, VT and NH.. I actually took a drive last summer to Lake George NY to look at a 1999 Sea Ray Signature 230, if memory serves. I found the boat on Craigslist and after some phone and email correspondence setup a time to view the boat. I drove the 2.5 hours to see the boat, in the water at a marina. I wasn't bashful in my investigation. The motor looked new, which was a good thing, but the upholstery staples and other hardware and fittings on starboard side of the boat were totally rusted. The port side was flawless. There was some padded trim pieces missing from the starboard side (inconsistent with the pictures provided) yet port side was fine.
The Hull ID was from Miss. and it occurred to me, could this be one of those boats salvaged from when Hurricane's Katrina and Rita hit in 2005? In my searching used Sea Ray's the best priced boats are often have Southern HID's of (example MS 1234 A). Does anyone know if I'm thinking too much of this or am I onto something?
Thank you!!
