So here we are, oldest two kids in college and working their part time jobs. Last one in high school, but no time after all those activities. Wife got bored and decided a few years ago she'd rather be working again than hanging around all day waiting for me to come home to do stuff. Aging parental units demanding extra attention.

I simplified my life by selling the day cruiser that I was the only one with time to use. Life just got easier. No more insurance and maintenance costs. Leased out our slips for 2018. No more boat hassles this year, just two kayaks that are a snap to take anywhere and launch on a whim. I read posts about rotting decks and leaky tanks, and permeated waste lines, and think, "thank goodness it's not us."

Yet, I feel as if there's this hole in my heart that needs another boat... Crazy, right?

With the number and variety of boats you have owned, I can't imagine that you could go for very long without...

Not crazy I submit...

I sold my old boat in early June of 2016, found this one in December of that year, and took delivery of it in April of 2017.
It was kind of nice not having to maintain a boat that summer, haul-polish-winterize that fall, or make ready again in the Spring, but as nice as it was I really missed having a boat as the summer of 2016 progressed. It felt really good to have a boat again for 2017.

You've been at this way too long to give it up............I'll give you 6 months and you wil be looking at boat-porn again!

I see this as a good summer to re-group on the rest of all things important, while saving for that diesel mega-cruiser I've always wanted. Yep, already been surfing for the next one, guilty!

Looking at some upgrades for the kayaks. New stereo with XM, sub and remote, radar arch, some fancy electronics, maybe even a bow thruster and autopilot. Not just any autopilot, but the new Furuno with the handheld remote.

Having a boat keeps me sane. Okay, maybe that is exaggerating, but pretty damn close.

Me too. Although this year getting it in the water has been a process that about drove me nuts.
