Boating Suite for the iPhone & iPod Touch

Droid!

Great idea; but I agree with the above- I'll ingnore the expense log, cause I really don't want to know.

Now the maintenance log- that's a great idea. I used to have one of the bulky paper ones, then just stopped updating it because it was never "handy" at the time. Any chance it's in Word or Excel format, so it can be exported and printed?

All of the reports export as .csv files so they can be imported into a spreadsheet.

Looks Great! I will buy it for my iPhone!

Looks great! I'll be looking for it at the app store!

Can I ask how one goes about developing an app for the Iphone or blackberry?

Do you have to know a specific programming language or does the company provide you with some basics to get you started?

Developing for the iPhone is not trivial. Apple does provide a software development kit (SDK) and, yes, you can theoretically create a basic app out of the box (kinda sorta). There are a lot of free apps out there that novices made to test the code and their skills.

To create a robust app like Boating Suite is a lot of work. Every module is integrated, there is reporting, exporting, and some things we built to allow for future expansion. I could go on and on about all that we put into this app. Not to mention the effort into creating the specs. This wasn't put together ad-hoc and on a whim. Every element was purposely designed and thought out way in advance of any lines of code. I am really proud of the work we've done. Oh yeah, don't forget post-purchase support.

A LOT of work but a lot of fun too.

This is perfect timing. I have been shopping around for a Log book (paper or electronic) without finding anything that I really liked, and was thinking about creating an electronic version for my laptop. I am an avid iPhone user so this looks like a perfect app for me. I also use the Navionics Marine app for on-the-fly charting and may move all of this over to an iPad in the summer to take advantage of the larger screen. Good luck to you - hope this venture pays off.
