My son and I were boating in Canada over the weekend. When I attempted to contact the marina in Victoria over channel 66a, I could not hear their response to my inquiry. The marina could hear my call without problem.

I'm using a raymarine 215. I did not change the frequency selection from US to Canada.

I'm assuming there is an operator error going on.

Dave, I had a similar problem with my Ray215. I could hear others but no one could hear me. I tested it with someone at the Marina and the radio was bad. If I plugged the mic in to the plug at the back of the radio it worked. I ended up replacing the Ray 215 with a Standard Horizon. The Standard Horizon works great.

Thanks Jim but others can hear me when I'm transmitting and I can tune to chan 16 and hear the emergency stuff but I'm not getting anything when I'm contacting the dock on channel 66a.

Forgive my ignorance, but I've never figured out the whole sub-channel "a" designation.

Thanks for responding.

Dave

Hey Dave
I replaced my Raymarine 210 with Standard Horizon I bought here from Jim@boemarine.com.
It comes in loud and clear.

Good to see you Sunday.
