Boater shares first-hand experience of Avalon storm

Thanks for this link, quite a detailed and riveting description of the night and not something one would get watching the local news.

Excellent writing....very descriptive from a boaters' perspective.

A side note. I was in LA during this storm. At this point I had been on land, and off my boat for almost two months. I was up in the Hills kind of enjoying the weather on land. I had just been down to Marina Del Ray the week prior looking at boats and getting slip information. But, I had no idea the magnitude of this storm out in Catalina.

In fact I called my insurance guy during that week to go over a coverage issue. Usually we shoot the **** for a little bit, but he asked me politely if he could call me back because he was dealing with some losses out of Catalina. Now it's all fitting together. The story explains a lot.

Wow, that was a riveting story. Thanks for posting the link!
