Boater dies at my Marina looking for his Motor.

That's very sad, my regrets to his family. Diving in poor or no visibility can be very disorienting even to an expert.

It's very possible that he dove to the bottom and found the motor. Then, he tried to lift it, and the extra weight of the motor pushed his lower legs deep in to the mucky bottom and bound him to where he couldn't free himself in time to surface for air.

Sad story...especially at such a young age.

Very sad - the ironic part is the motor was junk as soon as it hit the water, let alone a day later. My friends and I (along with just about everyone Im sure) took a lot of foolish risks for little to no gain as kids......we never thought anything bad could happen - makes me feel lucky I made it through those years

Just a quick update to this story:

On Sunday, Paul Chrzaszcz and a friend were in a boat on Cheesequake Creek when they dropped a trolling motor into the water. The following day, they returned and the 24-year-old Chrzaszcz went into the creek to retrieve the motor. Authorities said he never surfaced.
Today around 11 a.m., State Police divers located the South Amboy man’s body in the water, near the missing motor.
Divers found Chrzaszcz’s body about 75 yards west of Morgan Marina in Sayreville, borough police Sgt. David Lasko said.
Chrzaszcz was a volunteer firefighter in both Sayreville and South Amboy, and many firefighters and several of Chrzaszcz’s relatives were at the marina when his body was recovered.
"There was a ton of firefighters out there," Lasko said.
He said Chrzaszcz’ father identified his son’s body.
When the motor fell off the boat, Chrzaszcz and his friend marked the location with a magnet device. Upon returning to the scene Monday, Lasko said, Chrzaszcz went into the water wearing a wet suit, but no breathing apparatus. When he failed to surface, his friend called police at about 8 p.m.

So sad.

What a tragic shame, so sad....thoughts and prayers with his family.

Dom...
You were spot on. My other buddy Dom (the drummer) is a volunteer firefighter, also in Sayreville. Spoke to him today - he told me the deceased was trying to lift the motor and his feet got stuck in the muck, and that's exactly how they found him.
