Boat transportation

A while back on here a guy had his 48 da transported from an inland lake to FLA for a bahamas trip - He had to remove the electronics and the "arch" on top of the hardtop as well as the props to get it to sit low enough - I believe he also had the boat shrinkwrapped...

Land transport height max is 13"1, its common practice to remove the items from the hardtop and reattach them on arrival. The yard we used removed all the hardtop items and the props prior to shipping we had everything reinstalled in Florida. If we had to do it all over again I would probably hire a captain.

I purchased my 320DA in FL and had it shipped to NJ. I didn't get lucky with the transporter, so my experience was more on the negative side. So, my conclusion was that the hassle and the overall cost wasn't worth it. I would move big boats by water, unless there's no other choice.

Jim, I know a retired Tugboat/Sea Fox Capt in NJ that might do it for ya.

EDIT : I talked with him last night and he can't do it.

Maybe you can ask Captain Rusty Higgins if he wants to take a couple days of vacation from Sea Ray and pay him to move the boat.

My carrier said I had to take down the radar, TV antenna and something else. He also said to cover the boat from the windshield back to the transom.
My only problem I had and it wasn't with the carrier but with the marina in Miami. they were supposed to undo the radar/TV etc and drop it down and tape it up. Instead they cut the cables rendering the items useless.

Dont worry Same thing happened to me..... Guys up in Boston clipped all my wires... My marina had to rewire everything..... What a joke operation..... But the transporter was great.. lighthouse transport out of Long Island....

Standard: Here is my wording and would assume yours is the same. Note last line

Warranted confined to: May-July
the United States via the Azores and Bermuda, if necessary. Therafter, the vessel is warrantedconfined to Atlantic coastwise and inland tributary waters of the United States and Canada, includingthe Great Lakes, between Newfoundland Island,
(but not north of the Straits of Belle Isle), and Brownsville, TX; Including the Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, Bahamas, USVI's and BVI's the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Bermuda.
It is further warranted that the vessel will not be south of 30 degrees 30 minutes north latitudebetween 6/1 and 11/1.

Yeah, my transporter was very good and I would use him again. When I go to Miami again I will visit Hurricane Marina and ask to speak with the people that did the cutting work.
