I recently purchased a 1993 270 weekender and would like to find a trailer to be able to haul it out and store it for the winter. I was advised by the broker I purchased the boat from to contact boat wheels in Huron OH but I would like to find a used trailer. Does anyone know a good place to look?

Thanks in advance.

Buying a used trailer is a recipe for buying a headache. New trailers are fairly reasonable. I think you should be able to get a dual axle 10,000lbs trailer for about $3500 to $4500. I would get torsion axles and not leaf springs. Aluminum frame with a good set of disk brakes.

Good used trailers of the size you are seeking are very hard to find and have a lot of problems when you do. Look new, If you get a good aluminum trailer with disk brakes and good suspension plan on $6k. Watch very close as some are very cheap and light. Many of these have tire problems. MM

Wow I should have had you find a trailer for me.

I sure couldn't find a good trailer for that

I tow my 1990 270 with a tandem axle aluminum trailer with torsion axles. Mine has surge brakes and I'm completely satisfied with it. Boat weight with a/c and generator is 8200 lbs.

I agree that you should look new. I see you boat on Lake Erie so i suggest you check out Loadmaster. It's in port Clinton right next door to Duberts.

I really like my Loadmaster for my 270. Can't beat a steel trailer for freshwater. I helped my friend pull his 285 Bayliner on a aluminum trailer (3 axle) yesterday....way too much flex for me. I have electric brakes and they work great! All steel is 2000lbs but it tows great and rated for 12,500lbs with real springs, Mike.

Another +1 for loadmaster. Here is mine when I picked it up. 2 years later and it's been flawless.

Hmmmmm! That's interesting! Loadmaster steel trailers!
I have a 2004 Loadmaster Aluminum trailer with torsion bar suspension and disc brakes. The trailer was manufactured in Tampa.
Where are you guys getting steel trailers from? Different company with the same name?

And, upgrading the trailer to electric over hydraulic braking is the thing to do!

I am leaving tomorrow for Ohio to pick up a Loadmaster Trailer for my 280 also. They have been great people to work with.

You are only planing on dipping her in fresh water...Right?

I wouldn't be scared of a used trailer. I just saved about $4000 going used and the trailer has been great. There's not much on a trailer that can go wrong other than tires and brakes. I'd rather work on a trailer anyday than some of the repairs that we have to do on our boats. Just my two cents.

If one can find a used trailer to meet their needs it is great. Some of us trailer 20 miles a year, others, including me trailer hundereds of miles on trips, traveling at night, etc. That requires reliability. It also depends how big your boat is, the bigger the harder to find a trailer. Then for regular travelers there is the safety issue of newer style disc brakes and elect-drolic systems to relieve the stress on the truck. That is why many just go new and leave old to the folks that haul a few miles down the road to the nearby launch. MM

Finally found a used trailer that I think will suit our needs well. Very sturdy but needs tires and some brake work. Thanks for everyone's help
