Played hooky this afternoon and went to the Baltimore boat show and the awards go to. . .

Best in Show: Searay 38, largest boat SR had, but no diesel, so I told them to keep it.

Almost best in show: Four Winns V378 with twin Volvo Diesel 500 IPS, very nice and it’s the best Searay copy you will find.

Worst in show: Rinker 40 with twin 8.1 gassers and STERNDRIVE !! (WTF?)

Honorable mention: Formula and Doral

Oddest Boat: They expanded the show this year to include these very peculiar long, narrow beamed boats with large fixed center mounted rudders, steering wheels the size of hula hoops and very tall metal flag poles rising up 30’ or more out of the deck.

I saw the 280 Rinker at the Cincy show....... They jammed so much crap in the cockpit you can hardly even move by yourself much less with a few others on board.. For the money, I'll keep my 01 280DA thank youvery much

LOL...If there is one boat I wouldn't take for FREE its a Rinker

But the rinker has more features that any other boat. Why you can't even get a built-in blender in a Sea Ray but on a rinker, it is standard equipment.

Best regards,
Frank C.

Best in show the two tone 38 ?? come now ... I just saw the new 35.... stink bomb. based on the 33... big ugly side windows... rumble seat.... walk tru windshield...

insides very sqaure... searays in big trouble ! the sleekness is gone... the dash omg ...

BAD BAD

Do you mean the 350da? I didn't think it was out yet.

Ok Frank I retract my Rinker dig......

Best in show the two tone 38 ??

Rob, the 38 hasn’t been desecrated yet by the crack smoking group of new designers SR must have hired to redo the sport cruiser lineup, but they may be working their way up to it. I think this boat is still very nicely done throughout.

When I commented the boat needs diesels the salesman said something strange that went something like this, “The engine room was not designed with diesels as the main power and we found the Cummins will not fit, but we can special order Yanmar which take up less space.” (Another WTF moment.)

LOL.... Jim im not a fan of the center door. The fact it doesnt match the glass bugs the heck out of me . The boat has awesome cabin storage but i cant get past the door . The fact that the compartments ( stern ) close like hell too..... Why cant this be perfect. HOw someone lets this get passed them irks me ....

Wait till u see the 35 ... there goingto be alot WTF's ... The dash being a big wtf ... followed by I have no bussiness being in a boat this size walk tru windshield and gimmick rumble seat ...

I haven't seen the 350, but after spending an hour on the 330, I completely agree!!!!!!!!!! My re-sale value on my 340 should hold up very, very well.

I know that almost everyone here is highly against the walk thru windshiels on anything over 28', but I personally like the idea. I have two kids who think the bow sunpad is the coolest thing around, but walking a 3 yr old around the gunwales is a nerving task. My 9 yr old on the 260 is able to go up front and fix a line before we get to the dock, but I dont know that I would like him going around to do it. I beleive SR's main reason for the walk thru is for kids to be able to safely get up front. I also liked that the bow rails on the 330 were MUCH TALLER than the 320 or 340 for the whole length of it. You've never felt pain until you have slipped off and in between a boat and a dock (I was about 12, worst summer of my life) IMHO, anything SR could do to prevent this is great for my kids but what do I know, I dont own anything that big...........yet. Newbie,
U make very good points for wanting the walk tru . I against for the following . We boat alot in all kinds of weather. once u walk tru that windshield u got nothing to hold on to. PLus ur dragging lines fenderes tru the cockpit. No one wants that . Then add rain ur trying to undo glass , snaps ... its just ugly. In bigger boats theres no place for it . u need gunnels .... U need to get from the stern to the bow uninhibited. The windshield isnt doing that on a snotty rocking day . IT throws everyone off there game .

We went last Night to the Seattle Show. I really like the 310DA as the next step to go to. The twin V-Drives would be great for us as I would want to wet slip this boat.

The 580DB (sold) and the 480DB (also sold) were both amazing. So far Lake Union SeaRay was happy with the sales and said they were having a great show, more than they expected.

They didn't have the 350DA the reviews here haven't been favorable.

Um Todd, didn’t I read somewhere on this form that you just got the 260? I think the rules state that you must log at least 50 hrs on your boat before picking out the next one.

No, I was just scanning the people that may buy the 310DA that can buy from them('cause they didn't use) it in 6-7 years. It's much more affordable.

I agree with your points also, which is one of the reasons I like a few things on the 330. It has both the walk thru and wider gunnels along with taller rails than the 320 or 340. My kids wouldnt be going out there in bad weather anyways but in the good weather, theres much less chance of falling overboard when they can go thru the windshield. I don't see it as being in the way or taking up space so how can it hurt to have it? Now that transom seat on the other hand, WTF? Thats a waste of space IMO, but I believe that is an option and does not have to be there, but haven't checked to be sure. I like the idea of it but not the lack of storage because of it. Have anymore info (good or bad) on the 350  SB
