Okay,

A strange/unusual question. I generally wear my Sperry leather boat shoes around the decks and on my boat, but I'm looking for something lighter and easier like a pair of water shoes. Has anyone used Land's End or OP, or other water shoes on the decks? Do they do well on wet decks? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

My boat is smaller than most in these forums, and being open (bow rider), I use it differently than people with cruisers. That said, I wear water shoes when I'm on my boat since I'm getting wet at times. The only prerequisite is that they have white non-mark soles.

You know what ... no particular brand since I go through them so often. I normally hit Target and find a nice pair since they are cheaper there. The inside sole usually falls apart first. I like them because they are snug, allow my feet to breathe, work well on the wet parts of the boat (swim platform, etc.), can get wet, and dry quickly.

My 2nd boat is a 23CC mako and I use my Shimano Evair Marine/Fishing Shoes on both boat and also land. They are non-slip and non-marking and they are made to absorb shock. They are very light weight and $49.00 retail!!!!

I love the Sperry boat shoes, the ones without laces, more like a slip-on. I have a pari that is two seasons old, that I bought a replacement for but I can't bear to throw the old ones away. The new ones may not see the light of day until next season!!!

I will have to look into those. Thanks for the info!

I usually am in a cross trainer type of shoe for most of the year.

and then when the summer heat comes in I switch over to a Nike athletic Sandal. The soles are non-marking and have good grip.

Thanks, I never thought the athletic sandals would provide the wet grip on a deck.

I have both. I use bot shoes on the boat and I use the my water shoes when im on the fet ski. My problem with the water shoes is my feet are tender and they are not much better than walking barefoot over stones. and the liners seem to move around. but advantage is water shoes you can get wet and still have a little protection on the bottom of your feet.

have you looked into crocs ?? That is what I use all the time now.. to get into the water where shoes are raquired I use sandals because I can get the sand out of them

I actually like Crocs, but haven't tried them on the boat yet. I know they make a "marine" type now. My friends make fun of them when I wear them, and affectionately call them "Marshmallow Shoes".

I got these to try this summer. Haven't been on the boat yet so no review...

I have them and love them on and off the boat. While washing last wekend I did not feel like I was going to slide off the front of the boat. Great traction on wet and dry surfaces.

Sperry cost more, however proven purpose built shoe.

Crocs are very bad on wet surface. The Shimano Evair makes a Croc like shoe and also sandle and boot. Boot is very narrow.

Do you mean Crocs in general are slippery (the original rubber sandal) or their new Ace Boating Croc? I have the Sperry sport boating shoe Andrew first posted and they are fantastic, but I also want a sandal I can kick on and off and get more wet. I have a pair of old black Crocs that I really like (but haven't worn on the boat), and am planning to buy a pair of these Ace Boating Crocs - unless I hear from someone that has tried them and says they're no good.

Same thing I was looking at (Crocs™ Ace Boating shoe), just in a different color.
