I'm unable to take the boat out because the chrome Sea Ray logo on the Starboard side fell off! Until this is fixed, I'm on the hard! What kind of adhesive is used? I own an X-acto knife and can cut it, I just don't know what KIND of tape or adhesive to get!! I know it will be faster to to reattach it myself rather than waiting for the new ones to arrive! What surface prep must be done to assure it sticks???

Hoping to remove the IV from the boat and get back on the water as SOON as this is fixed!!! :smt043

Thanks in advance!!

Todd is correct. 3M VHB (very high bond) foam tape. It is the same tape used at the factory and used on mouldings on vehicles. You can pick it up at Home Depot or Lowes but it is just smaller, maybe 1" wide. To get a large piece the size of the logo, you will have to look on the internet or buy from 3M. We use that stuff in the sign industry a lot and will hold MOST things.

I have a set of new ones to put on and they look like they have butyl rubber tape on them. You know the kind they use to stick emblems onto car and truck bodies. You can get it at NAPA in rolls of varying widths, usually 1/2". Just wipe the area with acetone and apply the tape to the back of the emblems and once positioned press firmly. They will stick tenaciously. Forgot to mention that you have to peel the protective release tape off before sticking it to the boat, but that would have been obvious as soon as you see the stuff.

Drywall! Why didn't I think of that! Should I mud, tape and sand the surface to prep it???

OK, VBH or something similar ought to work. I'm planning to copy the design on my copier and then use that to cut the template out, slightly smaller so that it doesn't show. I'll probably have to tape a few strips to gether to get good coverage. Acetone! I think I have some of that too??

Thanks guys! I might be in the water by Wednesday if I stay on task!

Here in the Western North Carolina mountains we use corn squeeze'ns for everything from muscle pain to prepping surfaces for paint and tape application. It's easy to make and we have lot's of it. Just be careful, it will take the varnish right off of wood and eat through cloth. Got to go now my muscles are starting to hurt.

Good ole home remedy! Remember it well growing up in Western NC.

At Ease, You may remember Popcorn Sutton made the best shine in these parts. Off'ed himself so he wouldn't spend time in jail for doing what he did best.

does the missing emblem make your boat list to one side ?if it does just take a fat girl out with you to counter balance.

Boat has been successfully repaired and yes, it did list to the portside with it gone. I can't understand THAT! It's now ready for a trip to the San Juans as soon as I can figured out what is causing the charger to buzz!

The Valhalla thanks all of you for your cards, flowers and support!
