Boat not ready for Memorial Day...Waiting on BBQ invitations.

I've been covered in work for months now and have not had time to finish some of the maintenance on my boat so we won't be able to run it this weekend. A bunch of people have been asking if we were going out and we say the boat is down for maintenance.

Jokingly I told my wife that we need to make a list of the BBQ/Cookout invites we get and be sure to put those folks on the "Nice" list for boating this summer. Those who have events and do not extend an invitation will go on the "Naughty" list. Sort of like Santa does.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense and will help cull the freeloaders. :grin:

Nobody knows about the "List" and so far we've got one invite...

We're sort of in the same boat (pun intended!). We seem to get less invites to weekend events than we did pre-boat. Our neighbors see us rolling out on weekend mornings and know we're headed to the lake, so they don't even bother to invite us to BBQ's, etc.

My friends still invite me, but the tell me that they really don't expect to see me during boating season. They all have their "things", so they do understand. I think... :lol:

as Larry the cable guy would say 'now that's funny right there'......we are almost never home on WE's either.....we are either on the boat or attending family affairs.....

Yep. If it's a weekend, it's a boating weekend, with very, very few exceptions, so I know what you mean! Sorry to hear, and hope some folks do decide to rescue you from the situation!

Just go to the marina anyway. When my boat was down, my marina buds took care of me. They took me with them, and let me drive some too. Last year, i took several of the guys with broken boats out. Gotta help your fellow captains out.

Couldn't stand the though of being stuck on land so I actually made some time yesterday and finished the work I needed to do. She's up and running now. Looks like I'll be on the boat now.

Only two invites. Looks like the naughty list is pretty full now.
